No offense, but a bunch of us here don’t find you that intimidating. What with phyrexia on one side and the eldrazi on another.
You’re going to have to do more than quote some old law book to intimidate most of us.
Well , I guess I could try somewhat harder. Maybe blow up a plane or three? Would something like that help my image? Or should I call a few of the roaming Eldrazi so I can eat them. There is always the option of just sterilizing a plane and leaving one of my leviathans in its dessicated core to awaken when someone steps foot on it.
As a more accurate answer to a question you asked a while ago, I am about as old if not a little older than Nicol Bolas. The bigger difference is that most of that time was spent in the company of similarly aged planeswalkers. As our dearly departed leader used to say, “Alone we find great power, together we become those that dispense it.”((I do try for a more vague seeming of what he can actually do without getting to specific. If you have critiques on how to make him more interesting let me know!))
I say go eat an eldrazi.
Partly because I personally am not terribly fond of the beasts.
Partly because when phyrexia kills you, it will make you one of them.
Then Eldrazi shall die tonight. But first to prepare the bait. I’m thinking somewhere scenic an elven society or something? Green mana does seem to draw them better than the others. Any suggestions that aren’t Zendikar, I don’t want to travel that far right now.
The Phryexian question is something I’ve wondered and don’t see myself needing to test my countermeasures anytime soon. The old Phyrexia wasn’t able to affect me, I see no reason why this new one should really stand a better chance. Though contingencies are in place to prevent an infection, and I am far enough away that even should Gitaxias rediscover the Phyrexian form of interplanar travel he will not be able to find me a hundredth as easily as I can find him.

::MORE POWERFUL THAN ANYTHING YOU HAVE EVER DREAMED. WORLDS SHALL ONCE MORE TREMBLE AT THE ECHOES OF MY VOICE. MY MAGNUM OPUS WILL BE ONCE MORE WITHIN MY GRASP, AND ALL CONTAINED WITHIN IT SHALL FEAR THE COUNCIL OF TEN ONCE MORE::
Sometimes I wonder about what would happen if someone actually tried to surprise me with a “visit”. Diminished I am, weakened of course, weak I am not. My age is comparable to only the likes of Nicol Bolas and my fellow Councilors. When I first met my future friends among planeswalkers at the tender age of 6,000 I may have reacted by throwing a few things at them, luckily I restrained myself to only the local mountain range.
Anyway, I was the builder, the doer, the foreman, the creation, the potter with his clay. I built worlds, dozens of them, from the scraps I could pull from the æther and then made them habitable to the species we’d create, and then mold the world to suit what we needed from them as they followed the evolutionary path we set. Species hailed us as progenitors, and we crowned ourselves Lords and Ladies of our dominion.
We secured a portion of the multiverse, in ways that only those that helped create it can understand or command. Mana could only seep in slowly, so there was no great clashes of unimaginable and unrestrained power, the Eldrazi were barred from entering our dominion safeguarding us from the predators of reality. The Blind Eternities were made safe for a few thousand planes.
Now after the Mending, I have lost contact with my allies. The wake of that change in the multiverse scrambled my link to our dominion and I don’t know whether it still stands in a state of hibernation or if it fell long ago. Should I one day regain contact with them, I wonder if perhaps we might begin to gather our magic once more. Yes, that seems like a good name fore it. The Gathering.
((I built Pathos backstory right before Zendikar came out, and also started making cards around the same time. I’m vetting some of the cards through Jin-Mod but the name for the set, I thought as a clever use of the game’s name, was The Gathering. This Pathos is set a few decades before when I envisioned the set’s place in the time-line. Not sure if I’ll ever get a friend to play the other Councilors or not.))
theillusionofsubstance answered: Things getting a little slow in the multiverse? No new nefarious plots of multiplanar domination? You’re slacking, Bolas.
As if I’d BLOG ABOUT secret plots PUBLICLY. I’m not dense.
But you could blog about secret plans and lie about half of it. Or Most of it. Or all of it. Or none of it. It’s what I do!
Phyrexians I can deal with. Most of them aren’t too big so I can just toss boulders at them.
But those Eldrazi are bigger than the mountains I would throw at them. I must think of another strategy.
Well the old strategy was containment of the biggest 3 that made all the others….
Containment isn’t the only option, just the economic one. Though, the alternative is annihilating the very concept that they existed to begin with. I did, and still do, it all the time. Mana intensive? Hell yes, I could probably conjure a few dozen darksteel colossi with what it takes to unmake an Eldrazi. Side affects? You will likely wipe out all life on the plane you do this on, including yourself unless your encased in darksteel or something equally indestructible. And besides, just use a little ghostfire in spells and *Boom* you circumvent having to deal with that tricky immunity.
Yet you some how expect me to be telling the truth to everyone about everything? Really now Jin-Gitaxias, does that sound like something I would do, have some faith in me, dear abomination. I could very well be for or against the propagation of Phyrexia, and no one will know until unless it either comes to pass or you all die out again. Anything else it’s all just part of a long-term high-yield plan. I’m over 20,000 years old, I have patience to spare for something like this.
Other goals, smother goals. Constructing a body of darksteel the size of an entire plane was well worth the cost of half of your soul and the soul of every soldier in your army. But ~NOOOO~ you just had resist the ritual and only leave me with a million tons of non-magically engraced and runed darksteel.
By 100%, I mean if it doesn’t explode before you finish you business, then I’m going to blow it up myself. But yes, it should only explode after you finish getting your ‘enhancements’ and other knick-knacks off of it.
Well, “horrible” is up to personal interpretation, I do know what you mean. I do not wish to test my own immunity to the Glistening Oil on a full Phyrexian assault. Hence why Dharok is receiving a Planeship that has a 100% chance of exploding after finishing the trip with a 5% of detonating right away, let alone undergoing Compleation. More importantly when it does go ‘ka-boom’ the reactor will take any oil onboard and the debris into the Blind Eternities where it will be broken down into so much mana. Gitaxias has sent me a report on the oil and so far it has been nothing but useful in preventative measure for such forms of infiltration.
And Dharok is less, “Evil Mastermind” and more “I’m gonna smash that, kill that, loot that, pillage over there, brawl here, then raid those things,” kinda guy anyway. No real overarching plot or scheme or conspiracy, it’s mostly what-you-see-what-you-get with him. Just give him things you don’t like or care about anymore and they’ll be either broken or dead soon enough. Simple, but he’s very good at it. As for myself, I am more of an “Omit, mislead, blame, outright lie, and when all else fails use FIRE,” kinda guy.
I get bored and lob a few titans at a passing plane. So, if you should see a 70~100 ft. tall bipedal monster vertically-symmetrical and covered with eyes that can disintegrate things let me know. I’ll pick them up next time our planes are somewhat near each other.
I’ll have one ready by then. If you’re going to New Phyrexia then I’m giving you one of the older models. It’ll take a while to build up a charge but it’s also prone to exploding if tampered with so don’t let Jin-Gitaxias near it I doubt he could resist trying.
